Quant Trader

Posted January 29, 2026

We’re looking for a Quantitative Trader to research, run, and refine systematic trading strategies in short-term power markets.

Apply for the role

Quantile Energy – Oxford / Remote Hybrid

Compensation: Competitive

Start Date: ASAP

About Us

Quantile Energy is a data-driven trading firm operating in short-term, highly volatile markets.

We trade real capital, take real risk, and measure performance in live PnL. Our approach is systematic and quantitative, but firmly rooted in market behaviour, execution, and risk management.

The Role

We are looking for a Quantitative Trader to join our trading desk.

You will be responsible for researching, running, and improving quantitative trading strategies using data, models, and live market feedback.

You will work closely with other traders to turn market signals into executable trades, monitor live risk, and refine strategies based on observed performance.

Key Responsibilities

Quantitative Trading & Research

Research and develop trading signals using Python and statistical methods, with a strong focus on time-series market data.

Order Book & Market Microstructure Analysis

Analyse order-book, trade, and volume data to understand liquidity, price formation, and short-term market dynamics.

Strategy Evaluation

Test and evaluate trading ideas across historical data and live conditions, with a focus on robustness, drawdowns,

and realised PnL.

Live Trading & Risk Management

Monitor strategies in real time, manage positions, and make trading decisions as market conditions evolve.

Performance Review & Iteration

Review daily and intraday performance, identify drivers of PnL, and continuously refine trading logic.

Market Engagement

Stay close to the market — understanding when models work, when they don’t, and why.

Requirements

We’re looking for candidates who have:

  • A degree in a highly quantitative subject (Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, or similar).

  • Excellent Python skills used for data analysis, research, and trading decision-making.

  • Strong experience working with time-series data and building features from market data.

  • Experience analysing order-book, trade, or high-frequency data.

  • A good understanding of market microstructure and execution dynamics.

  • Strong intuition for risk, uncertainty, and probability.

  • Ability to think independently and take ownership of trading outcomes.

What We’re Looking For

You are someone who has:

  • A trader’s mindset — motivated by risk, reward, and performance, not just analysis.

  • Comfort working with incomplete information and noisy data.

  • Curiosity about why markets behave the way they do.

  • Willingness to be accountable for results and learn quickly from mistakes.

Why Join Us

  • Direct exposure to live trading and real PnL.

  • Flat structure with significant responsibility from day one.

  • Quantitative approach grounded in practical market realities.

  • Competitive compensation with performance-linked upside.

Shared Success

Everyone on the team is eligible for our ESOP (Employee Share Option Plan), so you share in the long-term upside you help create.

We’re building for the long term and want people who are in it with us.
